Introducing...No Soap No Radio
Built around the sharp lyrics and lush melodies of Mark Wilson's songs, No Soap No Radio's sound is a fascinating fusion of jazz, blues and rock with an infusion of Latin grooves. With a catalogue of accessible music boasting great rhythmic command, dazzling guitar-playing and heartfelt refrains, most listeners struggle to pinpoint any one genre as trademark.
One reviewer recently described the band as having '... that rare quality, a signature sound. It evokes retro images of American highways and Spanish siestas, all expressed in reverb-laden mellifluousness.' However, No Soap No Radio's sound is no pastiche and owes as much to urban British folk and rock as to Stateside cool.
Based in Cumbria, No Soap No Radio have been steadily building a loyal following for a number of years and are renowned for their electrifying live performances. Mark (vocals and guitar) is joined by long-time members Tim Appleby on bass and Paul Taylor on drums with lead guitarist Steve McCormick completing the line-up.
